I had the pleasure of being a part of production for the new music video for Sigur Rós. My RED Scarlet really performed that day and can’t wait to post the finished product. The video was directed by Alma Ha’rel and shot by DP Shawn Kim. I feel so blessed to have been on set that day, getting to watch some of the industry’s most creative people. The 16mm camera company has released a digital camera that shoots RAW 2k images called the Bolex D16. They are making the camera affordable and for the masses. Learn more about the camera on their Kickstarter page.

Killer Apps
Just finished shooting a TV pilot in Virginia / Boston called Killer Apps (working title) with production company Renegade 83. The show demonstrates the newest weapons being developed for the military. The picture on the left is a remote controlled machine gun mounted on a Humvee. The robot on the right can dismantle bombs and fire a machin gun. The shoot was tough work, but a lot of fun.

After much thought and deliberation I have decided to purchase the Scarlet-X from RED Digital Cinema. When the camera arrives, I’ll be renting it out at a very reasonable rate so check back for details! They say it will be a few weeks before the camera ships so in the meantime I’ll be watching videos like this.

Yesterday at the Paramount Studios lot in Los Angeles, Canon announced the C300 cinema camera. The EF mounted camera will ship in January at $20,000 before lenses and the PL mount in March at the same price. I just finished watching the short film Mobius, directed by Vincent Laforet and shot with the forthcoming camera.
